Why are Polar bears going extinct?
Polar bears are losing their homes due
to the impacts of climate change. Polar bears were listed as a threatened species in the US under the Endangered Species. The survival and the protection of the polar bear habitat are urgent issues for WWF.
What do polar bears eat?
Polar bears feed mainly on ringed and bearded seals. Depending upon their location, they also eat harp and hooded seals and scavenge on carcasses of beluga whales, walruses, narwhals, and bowhead whales. If polar bears have the chance they will kill beluga whales and young walruses.
Where do polar bears live?
Polar bears live in countries that ring the Arctic Circle: Canada, Russia, the United States (in Alaska), Greenland and Norway.
